Getting to and from Samos Airport
The airport is on the south-east corner of Samos, next to Pythagoreio and a short drive from Ireon; the capital Vathy is over the ridge to the north, Kokkari beyond it on the north coast, and Karlovasi and the west-coast beaches an hour away. Package coaches meet every charter; independent travellers take a taxi, pre-book a transfer or collect a hire car, and the hardy walk to the KTEL stop on the main road.

The rank is outside the terminal with the fares to each town on a board; the night tariff applies after midnight. The fleet is small and shared with Pythagoreio harbour, so on changeover days pre-booking for Kokkari, Karlovasi or the west is wise.

KTEL bus and the ferries
KTEL Samou does not enter the airport; its Pythagoreio–Vathy buses stop on the main road about 10 minutes’ walk from the terminal, several times a day in summer, €2 to Pythagoreio and a little more to Vathy, with connections there for Kokkari and Karlovasi. Fine for one traveller with time; not a plan for a family with luggage.
Ferries: the Kusadasi (Turkey) boats leave from Vathy and, in summer, from Pythagoreio; Ikaria, Fourni, Patmos and the Dodecanese from Pythagoreio and Vathy; Chios and Piraeus from Vathy and Karlovasi. Pythagoreio harbour is five minutes from the airport.
