Getting to and from Skiathos Airport
Skiathos is twelve kilometres long and its one main road runs from the town past the airport to Koukounaries along the south coast, with a bus every 15–30 minutes in summer. The airport sits at the town end of that road, so the capital, the port and the first beaches are minutes away and even walkable.
Package holidays include a coach; independent travellers take a taxi from the rank, walk 10 minutes to the bus stop on the main road, or pre-book for a villa in the hills. Ferry travellers to Skopelos and Alonissos have the easiest connection in the Sporades: the port is five minutes away.
Taxi from Skiathos Airport

Island bus and walking
the Skiathos island bus runs between Skiathos Town and Koukounaries every 15–30 minutes in summer, stopping at every beach on the south coast, for €2.20. It does not enter the airport: the nearest stop is on the main road about 10 minutes’ walk from the terminal. Buses are packed in August and luggage rides on your lap.
Skiathos Town itself is a 20-minute walk along the road past the harbour, flat all the way; with a backpack in the evening it is a pleasant arrival, with suitcases at noon it is not.
Ferries to Skopelos and Alonissos
The port is five minutes from the airport (about €10 by taxi). Fast ferries and the conventional boat to Skopelos (Glossa and Skopelos Town) and Alonissos leave several times a day in summer and connect comfortably from a morning or midday arrival; check the last sailing for evening flights, and note that the Volos and Agios Konstantinos boats also call here.
