Skiathos Airport “Alexandros Papadiamantis” (JSI) is the small airport with the famous approach: the short runway begins a few metres from the public road and the beach at Xanemos, so arriving jets pass low over the heads of the crowd that gathers there every summer afternoon. It is only 2 km from Skiathos Town and the port, on the flat isthmus that joins the island’s two halves.
Fraport Greece renewed the terminal in 2021, but it remains a single small hall for around 500,000 passengers a year, almost all British, Italian and Nordic charter arrivals between May and October, and the gateway to Skopelos and Alonissos via the ferries a few minutes away.
Skiathos Town and the port are 2 km away: about €10 by taxi, a 20-minute walk, or the island bus from the main road. Koukounaries at the far end of the south coast is about €25 by taxi or €2.20 on the bus.
