Car hire at Aktion Airport

Lefkada is joined to the mainland by a causeway, which makes it the one Ionian island you can drive onto from the airport. Its famous west-coast beaches, the mountain villages and the Nidri boat harbour are all at the end of roads the bus barely serves; on the mainland, Parga, Sivota, the Acheron river and ancient Nikopolis are within an hour. The desks are in the terminal and the cars beside it.

Driving from the airport

The airport road meets the coast road at Aktio: south-west for Lefkada, over the floating bridge in 25 minutes and on to Nidri (45) and Vassiliki (75); north through the tunnel for Preveza, Nikopolis and the Ionian coast to Parga (60); east along the gulf for Vonitsa and Amfilochia. Lefkada Town’s waterfront has car parks; the old lanes do not.
