Kalamata Airport (KLX) sits on the Messinian plain at Messini, 10 km west of Kalamata, sharing its runway with the Hellenic Air Force training base that was here first. It is the airport of the southern Peloponnese: Kalamata itself, the Mani coast (Kardamyli, Stoupa), the Messinian gulf resorts (Koroni, Finikounda, Pylos) and the Costa Navarino golf hotels. Around 350,000 passengers a year, most between April and October.
The terminal is small and run by the Greek civil aviation authority: one hall, taxi rank and car park in front. It was renamed in 2022 after Captain Vassilis Constantakopoulos, the shipowner behind Costa Navarino, whose resort is why several airlines fly here at all.
Kalamata is 10 km east, about €20 by taxi. The Mani (Kardamyli, Stoupa) and the Messinian coast (Koroni, Pylos, Costa Navarino) are an hour away in different directions, €55–65 by taxi; with no airport bus, most visitors pre-book a transfer or a hire car.

Costa Navarino sends cars for its guests; otherwise a taxi costs about €65 (Pylos €60) for the 50–60 minute drive west. The KTEL Kalamata–Pylos coach passes the airport road a few times a day.

Almost certainly. The region is spread over an hour in every direction, the buses are few and the castles, caves and beaches are down side roads. Consider a one-way rental ending at Athens Airport.
