Getting to and from Volos Airport
The airport sits on the coast between Volos and Almyros, well outside the city, and nearly everyone leaves it in a hire car, a package-tour coach or a taxi. Volos and its port are half an hour north-east on the national road; the Pelion villages are another half hour beyond, on the mountain roads that start at the city’s edge.

No bus serves the terminal. The Volos–Almyros KTEL stops in Nea Anchialos village, a few minutes away by taxi, and reaches Volos in 40 minutes; for a charter flight the tour operator’s coach is the practical option. For the Sporades, the ferries and hydrofoils to Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos leave from Volos port, so allow the 30-minute drive plus check-in time and book the crossing in advance in July and August.
