Milos is a volcanic island of 70 beaches, and the famous ones are not on the bus route: Sarakiniko’s white rock is a short paved drive, but Tsigrado, Firiplaka, Kleftiko’s lookout and the whole west of the island are dirt roads or boat trips. Driving from the airport

The airport road reaches the Adamas junction in a few minutes. Left for Adamas and on to Plaka, Trypiti and the north coast (Sarakiniko, Papafragas, Pollonia); right and over the hills for the south coast beaches, Paleochori, Firiplaka and Tsigrado. The paved network is small and the signs are good; the dirt roads to the west begin past Achivadolimni and are for SUVs only.
