Getting to and from Aktion Airport
Aktion is a military runway with a civil terminal on a headland, and the KTEL has never served it: there is no bus, no train, nothing but the taxi rank, the transfer minibuses and the rental cars. The good news is that the roads are flat and quick. Lefkada Town is 25 minutes across the floating bridge, Nidri 45, Vassiliki at the island’s far end an hour and a quarter; Preveza is ten minutes through the tunnel under the gulf mouth (€3 toll each way).
Package holidays include a coach; independent travellers to Lefkada or Parga should pre-book a transfer or collect a hire car. The taxi rank handles Preveza and Lefkada Town comfortably but empties on Saturday changeovers.

Transfers, the tunnel and the ferries
Transfer companies from Lefkada and Preveza meet every flight with name boards and fixed prices; the Nidri and Vassiliki hotels often include one. Preveza lies across the gulf mouth through the Aktio–Preveza undersea tunnel (€3 per car each way, included in taxi fares). From Nidri, ferries and day boats reach Meganisi, Ithaca and Kefalonia; Parga and Sivota on the mainland coast are an hour north.
