Astypalaia Airport (JTY) is a single short runway on the narrow isthmus of the butterfly-shaped island, near Maltezana (Analipsi), 10 km east of Chora and its castle. Only small turboprops land here: Olympic Air and Sky Express fly from Athens a few times a week all year, with summer hops to Leros, Kalymnos, Kos and Rhodes on the Dodecanese island-hopper. There are no international flights.

The terminal is one room and the flight carries a few dozen passengers, so seats sell out weeks ahead in summer. Most visitors arrive by the long ferry from Piraeus or from Kalymnos and Kos.

Transport

Chora is 10 km west, about 15 minutes and €20 by taxi. The island has two taxis and a municipal minibus that meets the flights in summer for about €2. Book your transfer before you land.
