Getting to and from Sitia Airport
The airport is on the hill above Sitia, so the town, the harbour and the KTEL station are minutes away. From there eastern Crete opens out: Vai and Toplou half an hour east, Zakros an hour south-east, Ierapetra an hour south-west, and Agios Nikolaos and the Heraklion road an hour and a half west. Taxis meet the flights and rental cars are delivered on request.

Sitia taxis meet the flights at the rank outside; the town run is short and metered, the longer fares are agreed from the posted board, and the night tariff applies after midnight. Book ahead for the charter arrivals in July and August, when a full aircraft outnumbers the rank.

KTEL, hire cars and ferries
No bus serves the terminal, but the Sitia KTEL station is a €8 taxi ride away, with coaches to Agios Nikolaos and Heraklion several times a day, to Ierapetra a few times, and to Vai and Palekastro in summer. Sitia rental agencies deliver cars to the airport by reservation, and eastern Crete is worth a car. From Sitia port, the ferry on the Dodecanese line sails to Kasos, Karpathos and Rhodes a few times a week, and to Piraeus via Heraklion.
