Getting to and from Chios Airport
The airport is practically a suburb of Chios Town: the port, the Kambos mansions and the Karfas hotels are all within ten minutes, and the city bus passes the gate. The island is long, though, and its two attractions for visitors sit at opposite ends: the medieval mastic villages (Mesta, Pyrgi, Olympi) 45 minutes south, and the Kardamyla and Nagos coast an hour north. the Chios city bus (the blue buses) passes the airport gate on the Karfas line every 30–60 minutes, €1.60 to the town centre by the harbour, all year. The green KTEL coaches to the mastic villages and the north leave from the KTEL station in town, a few times a day; the last ones go in the afternoon.
Ferries: Çeşme (Turkey) several times a day in summer, 30 minutes, from the main port in town; Piraeus, Lesvos, Samos and Oinousses also from town. The port is a €10 taxi or the city bus from the airport, so a morning arrival can be in Turkey by lunchtime.
