Car hire at Lemnos Airport
Lemnos is the eighth-largest Greek island and one of the emptiest: long beaches with nobody on them, the sand dunes at Gomati, the Bronze Age town at Poliochni, the sanctuary at Hephaestia, the wineries around Moudros. Driving from the airport
The airport road meets the Myrina–Moudros road at once. West for Myrina in 25 minutes, with Kontias, Platy and Thanos beaches off the road on the way; east for Moudros in a quarter of an hour, then on to Poliochni, Hephaestia and the eastern beaches at Keros and Agios Ioannis. The island is flat and the roads are empty; the wind is the only hazard.
